BOTOX

Fast and affordable, Botox is the anti-ageing injection that has quickly become the ultimate lunchtime fix for putting frown lines to sleep.

What is it?

Botox is the leading brand of BOTULINIUM TOXIN TYPE A. Botox works by blocking signals to the muscles and stopping them from contracting. It is used in tiny quantities with high margins of safety and affects only the muscles.

What can it do for you?

Botox can be used to soften and smooth expression lines and wrinkles across the eyes and mouth across the forehead and between the eyebrows. Although it is no substitute for a surgical facelift, the results can be amazing. For example when it is injected into the muscles above the brow any excess skin will lift.

The Procedure?

The consultant will spend time observing the dynamics of your face before starting to determine which areas need the most work. Using a very fine needle the Botox is injected into the muscle, often in several places. On occasion the consultant may apply a local anaesthetic cream first. The treatment takes about 15 minutes and it can take about 48 hours for the first effects of Botox to be seen. The complete effect is often visible after a week.

What does it cost?

Botox is available from approximately £199 per session.

Recovery time?

The only sign of treatment should be slight bruising or redness at the sight of injection but this should fade quickly.

How long does it last?

Botox, lasts between three and six months on the first treatment. Clinical studies have shown that subsequent injections last progressively longer. Once satisfied with an area, clients need only return when they notice muscle movement again – this may not occur for up to a year.
